I make complex products feel simple

I'm Karl Wu, a product designer who codes. I turn complicated products into experiences that feel effortless, considered down to the last detail.

About me

I design and code the parts of a product people use: how a flow moves, what a button says, how fast someone gets to what they came for. Most of that has been at Fiserv and Clover; I started on the product side, as a PM intern at TikTok.

At Clover I design the AI merchants use every day. An assistant they can talk to, an agent that takes the next step for them. The part I care about most is the moment a suggestion stops feeling like a guess, when someone can see where it came from and act on it.

Away from the screen, I'm usually on a bike, behind a camera, or taking apart something well-made to see what makes it work.

Experience

I led the zero-to-one design of Clover Agent — the AI business partner rolling out across Clover's 200K+ merchant platform — and created the AI design language now standard across 10+ teams. I shipped Advanced Invoicing, cutting transaction-related support tickets 20%, drove design for Clover's Japan launch, and mentor designers through our critique practice.
Owned design of Vision Next Studio — brought four fragmented card-issuing experiences into one product people across 12 markets wanted to use. I ran and wrote up the research behind it — 124 cardholders surveyed across the UK, Germany and Mexico, and Fiserv's Latin America operations teams interviewed in Spanish. Designed an AI-powered developer search that cut API discovery time 20% and lifted developer task completion 15%, and scaled the Point Design System across 5+ products.
Rebuilt the Developer Studio onboarding experience — feature discoverability rose 20%, and first-time completion rose 25%.
Scoped and shipped the 'Ads Only' feature in TikTok's Spark Ads creation flow, taking it from concept to beta across 4 regions.
